When you need important information what you do. Your first priority is to search that information on the Internet. You use various kinds of search engines to find that information but have you ever thought what exactly are search engines. Let me introduce you with the search engines and their functions. Do you know how Google, the most widely used search engines, works?
Google is a configuration of millions of computers which are interconnected with each others. This network of computers supports Google to perform its functions. The prime function of Google is Fast Parallel Processing.
Now you must be wondering what is Fast Parallel Processing. It is a method of computation which is used to solve many calculation simultaneously. To solve the calculation speedily Google depends on its three distinct parts and these parts are as follows:
Googleblot or Google Web Crawlers
Google Indexer
Google Query Processor
Each part is endowed with specific functions. Now lets understand the functions of each part:
Ø Googleblot – Googleblots are web crawling robots which scan the web pages for information added to the Internet everyday. The gathered information is delivered to the Google Indexer where it is catalogued and listed. In other words Googleblots are spiders scurrying the strands of cyber space to gather information uploaded on the World Wide Web everyday.
Ø Google Indexers – After getting information from Googleblots Google Indexers store that information in an alphabetical order. Google Indexers classified the web pages according to the terms repeatedly used in them.
Ø Google Query Processor – Google Query Processor comprises of three different tools which include user box, search engine and result formatter. This is the part of Google which is used by users, looking for the particular information.
How Google process a query?
When a user enters a word or phrase in the user box it goes to the Google web server from where it goes to the index server. In the index server all the information is arranged in alphabetical order. The index server matches the query with words of stored data. Thereafter index server sends the query to the doc server and from here snippets are generated to describe each result.
